Launch of Contains Strong Language and Scenes of a Sexual Nature 27.08.

A date for your diary: On 21st October at 6.30pm, Cathy Bryant launches her new poetry collection: Contains Strong Language and Scenes of a Sexual Nature.

The venue is City Library, just off Deansgate, in Manchester (the library that’s a stand-in for Central Library while it’s being refurbished).

There’ll be a chance to hear Cathy read poems from the collection, and she’ll be supported by several of Manchester’s very best poets.

As well as co-editing the Best of Manchester Poets anthology, Cathy is a favourite on Manchester’s live poetry scene. Her work has won several literary awards and she’s been published in anthologies around the world. Irritatingly hard to classify, her poetry hints at what it means to be female and intelligent in the 21st century, and is humorous, ingenious, charming, and punchy in equal measure.

Cathy Bryant’s new collection 29.07.

We’re working hard on Cathy Bryant’s new collection of poems: Contains Strong Language and Scenes of a Sexual Nature. This is the first collection from a woman who is undoubtedly one of Manchester’s best emerging talents.

If you’re involved in the Manchester performance poetry scene, you’ll already know about Cathy. Here’s what fellow poet Angela Smith said about Cathy a few months ago:

“Cathy is a poet of great warmth and humour, whose poetry often looks at the everyday from a wry perspective, but still manages to retain a sense of wonder, beauty and the magical.”

We’re hoping to launch the book as a fringe event during the Manchester Literature Festival in mid-October 2010. To learn more about this book or any of Puppywolf’s activities, click the Newsletter link above.
